Sauramandala's Framework for Social Outcomes based Tourism

About the Solution

This framework by the Sauramandala Foundation outlines a model for using tourism as a catalyst for achieving positive social outcomes in local communities. Developed through participatory need assessments and focus group discussions, the framework ensures that tourism initiatives are rooted in community aspirations and priorities. It highlights how responsible tourism can drive electrification, women’s livelihood opportunities, digital education, and health services, while also generating sustainable economic growth.

The framework provides a roadmap for organizations, governments, and local communities to implement outcome-based tourism that balances livelihood creation, cultural preservation, and social well-being.

Sauramandala Foundation is an NGO established in 2018, focused on accelerating social and economic change in remote, inaccessible, and vulnerable Indian communities. Through its Centre for Accelerated Development (CFAD), the foundation works by deeply engaging with communities—living with them, understanding local challenges, and building social capital—to co-create solutions around health, education, livelihoods, climate resilience, and infrastructure.
